Well, there are some rumors. Elephants have been heard to trumpet their discomfort with the message of the Grumpy Old Party. Frankly, they’re embarrassed at this point. The Republican Party of today no longer reflects pachyderm culture, values, nor their interests, which run to environmentalism and wildlife preservation and refuge. Would it really be a surprise if they decided to end their relationship with the Republican Party?
P. S. - Also, too, they're endangered enough on their own. They shouldn't have to worry about two kinds of extinction at once.
That's just fine! The GOPosaurs don't deserve the honorable pachyderm anyway.
ReplyDeleteI think the elephant first became the symbol of the GOP because of that animal's reputed tendency never to forget--as, it was said, the GOP of a century or so ago couldn't forget that the Democrats were the party of the Confederacy during the Civil War. Now, however, the GOP, in insisting that the answers for all of our problems can be found in more tax cuts for the rich, and that Obama is responsible for the recession, seems unable to remember anything before January 20th...so, nope, the elephant doesn't work any more....
ReplyDeleteI am just hoping the elephant is off track and off message. With them falling by the way side and getting lost in the wilderness, I think they must be suffering from some form of alzheimers or something.
ReplyDeleteWith their main man pulling out, they will have no one to lead them any longer.. Not Joe the Not Plumber is taking his tools and going home so they won't have anyone laying pipe to lead them out of the wilderness...lol
I know. When you manage to lose Joe the Plumber, you know you're in deep, deep - something. Maybe next time they should get a septic take cleaner instead of a not plumber.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking they should adopt the rabid bat as their symbol; blind, insane and savage with paranoia.
ReplyDeleteRabid bat is good. Very good. I've always thought the jackal might be a good symbol. I don't really know all that much about jackals, though, and I might be defaming them here.
